Remediation

Remediation is the process of resolving a governance violation and restoring a system to a compliant state. GOVERN tracks each remediation from open to closed with full audit history.

Opening a remediation

From any assessment with violations, click Open Remediation. Assign it to the system owner or a specific team member. Set a due date and priority.

Remediation workflow

Each remediation moves through these states:

  1. Open — identified, not yet assigned
  2. In Progress — assigned owner is working on it
  3. Pending Verification — fix deployed, awaiting GOVERN re-assessment
  4. Closed — GOVERN has confirmed the violation no longer triggers
  5. Accepted Risk — violation acknowledged but not fixed, with a documented justification

Automatic verification

When a remediation is in Pending Verification, GOVERN automatically watches subsequent assessments from the same system. When three consecutive assessments pass the relevant policy rule, the remediation closes automatically.

Remediation SLAs

Configure remediation SLAs in Settings → Remediation. When a remediation is not resolved within its SLA window, GOVERN escalates the alert and increases its energy cost.
